The sun might be shining, but before any of you can get out into your garden to enjoy some sunbathing and BBQs, you need to get that garden summer ready. However, with so many other chores and tasks on our to do list, how can we get our gardens looking great with very little effort?
Well, worry not, as with our top 6 tips, your garden will be looking as if Alan Titchmarsh has been around!
1: Concentrate on Your Lawn
A shabby lawn is usually the first thing visitors will notice when they visit you. The problem is, a lawn can be a pain to fix. However, that doesn’t mean your old lawn is a lost cause, as even a little TLC will make your lawn look a hundred times better.
To get started, mow your lawn and edge that lawn to your borders properly, as this will make it a lot neater. If your lawn is looking a little patchy, invest in some grass feed and really pay attention to your lawn. It might take a few months, but over the summer you will see a real improvement.
2: Get Weeding
During the wet and cold weather of winter, hardy weeds can really take over a border, hogging all the nutrients in the soil that you’d want your plants to get. So, dedicate an afternoon to really dig through your borders removing any weeds right down to the roots.
Then, over summer, keep on top of your weeding to make sure your border is looking its best.
3: Plant New Flowers
Once you’ve weeded, you will likely find yourself with a few bald sports where these weeds used to be. This can often worry those of us without green fingers, as what exactly do you plant here? Well, you might be surprised at how good a few boxes of cheap bedding plants will look in your garden.
Even better, most bedding plants are easy to look after, only needs water and some slug pellets to protect them.
4: Look at Your Garden Furniture
Over winter, your garden furniture is likely to have suffered from some rusting, which makes it look unappealing. There is a good chance that you can save this furniture, though, using some cleaners and scrubs that can help remove rust.
Or, if your furniture needs more work, look for outdoor paints and bring that furniture back to life with a lick of paint.
5: Make Sure Any Paths are Clear
Pathways often become overrun with weeds and dirt, making your path look a lot worse that it actually is. To save your path, hire a pressure washer or get a company in to power wash for you. Your path will soon like brand new again, then it’s just a case of getting some weed killer down.
6: Get Rid of Any Rubbish
Often, over winter, we can accumulate some extra rubbish in our gardens. Or, you might find that some old furniture couldn’t be saved or you wanted to do a more extensive garden clear. Getting rid of garden waste, though, isn’t always easy – particularly when you don’t want to put anything too dirty in your car.
So, instead, look to Kwiksweep, who will come to your home and clear your garden for you. All in a way that’s very convenient to you. Which means, before you know it your garden will be ready for your guests!
