Sharing is caring!

I don’t know about you, but 2020 has not turned out how I expected. To be honest, I don’t think anyone could have foreseen how this year is turning out.

Everyone I know is having a different experience. There are those people who have families, and are perhaps having to home school whilst trying to get work done, and could just do with 5 minutes to themselves. Then are people like me who live alone and who are working from home, which means that the only people we are seeing is when we go out for groceries or get deliveries. I am missing other humans (as the cats are not great conversationalists).

WIth being feeling isolated and alone, it is no surprise then that dating sites and apps are more busy than ever. The normal pattern of dating is no longer possible though, a few messages an then perhaps a meet up. It’s not possible because it’s no longer allowed. Dating sites and apps have therefore had to consider their model and offerings. More and more sites are offering video calling and other great functionality to enable singles to connect with prospective partners more whilst still not being able to meet in person.

This might be ideal for those who are looking for a long term partner, but for those who are used to more casual relationships and hookups, and who would normally be using a sex dating site  or sites like nostringsdating net, they may have be be more patient or creative when waiting for what they are looking for.

Distance dating ideas

Throughout this period I have definitely learnt a lot of new ways to entertain myself, from learning more about using my camera and new methods of photography, which I can do at home or in my garden on my own, through to great distance group activities. Here are some of my favourite, which can also double as distance dating ideas.

  • Online escape rooms – they are brilliant! There are some available for free, although I’ve not tried any of those, but I have tried one which was just a few pounds on Groupon. The price is for the game, so you can have as many players as you like (although I think they recommend up to 6). All you need is to all have access to a computer or device with internet at the same time, and also be on a video call such as Zoom or FaceTime at the same time, so you can chat through solving the puzzles. Whether you do this in a group, or with just one other, it’s a fun activity that can be done from afar.
  • If like me you like trivia and quizzes, you can play games over the phone too. I have a Trivia Pursuit board, and position my phone in a tripod looking at the board. As long as one other person has some questions (you can always ask everyone else but yourself) you can play a game over FaceTime and actually it works really well.
  • Using video technology there are loads of other activities you can play and do, and get to know people much better prior to an initial face to face date. Let us know in the comments what other distance dating ideas you have!
