Sharing is caring!

Whether I’m on a break at lunch, chilling at home in the evening or hanging out with friends, I love playing games. From board games, to apps on my phone and everything in between. They are fun, and even if you are on your own, are a great way to pass the time, and some of them are even mentally stimulating which can help prevent boredom.

Now we are 18 months or more into the pandemic, you might have tried all your favourite games and be looking for something new. If that is the case you should check out Solitaire.org. Not only do they have a great selection of free card games like the classic Solitaire, but they also have matching games like Candy Crush (my favourite of which is Candy House.

Another of my favourite types of games is hidden object games. You are presented with a selection of objects and you have to find them in the pictures. I am obsessed with pirates (I have been all my life, and when I was little I wanted to be a pirate when I grew up) so my favourite is “Pirates and treasures”. You are given a set time to find all the items, and when you find them you just click on them in the picture. If you click on anything incorrectly though you do get a time penalty, so you have to be quick and accurate.

Whatever kinds of games you like, there will always be something for you to pass the time with. For online gaming, check out your app store (the App Store or Play store – depending on your device). You can also look at sites like Tabletopia which offer free online board games which you can play with others. Backyard is a popular interface for group online gaming, however they have been bought out by Discord so all the games may not be available on their Discord Server yet.

For real life gaming, check out sites such as Freecycle (now Trash Nothing in the app store) and look our for people getting rid of games they no longer play with. You might even consider doing a board game swap with a friend, or a group of friends.

If you don’t mind spending a little bit of money, check out car boot sales or charity shops, and other online selling platforms such as Shpock, Facebook Marketplace and eBay.
